Greg started playing with model aircraft at a very young age, influenced by his father’s early interest in aero-modelling.
He built models and competed in Free Flight events for many years, specialising in F1B in the late 90’s and early 90’s.
In 1995 he visited the ORAM annual Open Thermal Glider competition and has been flying RC gliders ever since, buying his first radio (a JR X388) the same day. He spent many years flying with the Barossa Valley club where he achieved his bronze wings in power but concentrated on gliders and electric powered models.
Since joining SSL he has concentrated on most aspects of RC soaring, competing in the all the classes of competition offered by club as well as some scale gliding as well.
He later accepted the role of club president and set about raising the levels of enthusiasm for RC soaring, introducing new events and mentoring new members. He has also overseen an ambitious program of improvements and enhancements following the clubs final loan repayment on the Milang property.
