— Saturday
The members that joined in to fly the F5J comp today enjoyed a varied and sometime challenging day.
We had a few spots of rain, less than that was forecast as was the lesser wind speeds. Still gusts and turbulence near the ground created some very dramatic landing results. A credit to our flyers. Congratulations to Keith Douglass, a newer member, for his very commendable first effort in comp with our club.
8 rounds were flown today and we will endeavour to get another 8 rounds flown tomorrow. The results overall are attached – you will see that some scores are shaded blue. This is the pilots lowest score and is not taken into account when calculating their positions – it is known as a dropper.
My job as CD, was again made easy by Gerry Carter’s wonderful programme Gliderscore. We also debuted our new radio stands made by another new member Dave McConville. These make for better, clearer sound as the radios don’t have to sit on the ground anymore.
With thanks
